Glenn McLelland

Glenn was one of Springbank’s first students in 1996. His passion for computers, adventure and knowledge has led him on an exciting path since leaving school. Glenn is an extremely talented IT professional, having worked for organisations such as Paradise internet, Housing New Zealand and Telus (Canada).

He is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and is currently back in New Zealand doing project work for the Inland Revenue Department, building servers and developing enterprise application packaging. He has graduated from Victoria University with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Molecular Pharmacology & Medicinal Chemistry) and has also worked for Shell Chemicals. Glenn has recently commercialised two businesses. Ear Buddies (www.earbuddies.co.nz) is a wholesale and retail provider of high quality ear plugs for music professionals across New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the USA. Glenn’s other business interest, Super Sharp Shooter Photography (www.supersharpshooter.co.nz), is his part-time high-end photography venture. Both businesses have sprouted as a result of Glenn’s exciting extra-curricular focus. His spare time is spent as a DJ at various music events, snow-boarding, mountain biking and pursing his passion for photography.

I remember the smaller class sizes which allowed for more individualised teaching, the fun outdoor activities such as surfing during PE in summer, and cleaning up the Northland competition with our hockey team. Participating in the young enterprise scheme gave me experience in thinking about gaps in the market where business opportunities exist, and starting and running businesses which has been invaluable in the years since I left Springbank. “
