At Headstart we combine the best of early childhood learning fundamentals with an emerging programme which links seamlessly into an emerging Primary School curriculum. Our programme is based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum Te Whaariki, emphasising holistic development, empowerment, community, and relationships. Through child-centred learning, our children are supported to extend their confidence and capability in numeracy and literacy within meaningful contexts.

Children learn to contribute enthusiastically as part of a team, and they are encouraged to work independently on a variety of creative activities. Children develop scientific curiosity, they are physically fit and active, they enjoy making music, and they express their creativity through constructive, hands-on art, technology, and discovery-based learning. This all develops an on-going love of learning and a strong academic foundation.
